God issues a
simple command concerning praise that is applicable to
all:
PSALMS 150:
1 Praise ye the LORD.
Praise God in his sanctuary:
praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts:
praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet:
praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance:
praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals:
praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 Let every thing that hath breath
praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. |
When it comes to praises
at Genesis CFC, we strive to be fully and totally
obedient to the word of God. The bible is simple
and straightforward: After all the psalms had been
issued, they summed it us with this command---LET
EVERYTHING THAT HATH BREATH, PRAISE THE LORD!
It is ironic how man has
placed so many limitations and stipulations on what we
can and cannot do for God. Man tries to limit
our ability to be fully obedient to the word of
God. Many of these limitations come out of our
own traditions or our personal idiosyncrasies and
desire to do what we want.
Especially, when it
comes to praise, we drag out a long list of do's and
don'ts.
At Genesis CFC, we love
God's simplistic approach. Praise God for all
that he has done with every instrument available and
with our voice and our being because he is worthy to
be praised.
EXODUS 15:
19 For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the LORD brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.
20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
21 And Miriam answered them,
Sing ye to the
LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. |
God left us wonderful
examples of praises given to him. After, the
Lord has delivered the children of Israel out of
Egypt, Miriam lead the children of Israel in praising
God.
2 SAMUEL 6:
12 And it was told king David, saying, The LORD hath blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness.
13 And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings.
14
And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.
15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.
16 And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window,
and saw king David leaping and dancing before the
LORD; and she despised him in her heart.
20 Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said,
How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!
21 And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel:
therefore will I play before the
LORD. |
David danced before the
Lord with all his might when he brought the ark of God
to Jerusalem.
Saul's daughter along
with many today despise those who choose to
praise the Lord with all their being. YET,
we must and will continue to praise the Lord.
We should praise the Lord
if we want to experience his glory because God
inhabits the praises of his people.
2 CHRONICLES 20:
21 And when he had consulted with the people,
he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say,
Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for
ever.
22 And when they began to sing and to
praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were
smitten.
PSALMS 22:
3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the
praises of
Israel.
2 CHRONICLES 5:
13 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in
praising
and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and
praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever:
that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the
LORD;
14 So that the priests could not stand to minister
by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of
God. |
When we begin to praise
the Lord and worship him for being God, God comes and
inhabits our praises.
We encourage each and
everyone who reads this to learn to always give praise
to the Lord in obedience to his word out of love for
him. |
